Privacy Policy

Walker Industria (PTY) Ltd ("Walker Industria", "we", "us") respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, how we use and protect it, and what your rights are under the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA). This page is maintained by Walker Industria and applies to this website and our day-to-day dealings with customers and suppliers.

1. Who is responsible for your information

Walker Industria (PTY) Ltd is the responsible party. Our address is 3 Industria Road, Upington, Northern Cape, South Africa. You can reach our information contact at admin@walkerindustria.co.za or (054) 332 1074.

2. Information we collect

We collect only what we need to quote, supply and support our services:

  • Contact details: name, company, phone number, email address.
  • Enquiry details: the service you are asking about and any information you include in your message.
  • Transaction details: quotes, orders, invoices, delivery and collection records, payment references.
  • Service records: vehicle, machine or equipment details, job cards, rental agreements and weighbridge records.
  • Identification information where the law requires it, for example for second-hand goods and scrap metal transactions, or for credit applications.
  • Basic technical information when you visit this website, such as pages viewed and general device information.

We do not knowingly collect information from children, and we do not collect special personal information unless it is legally required for a specific transaction.

3. How we collect it

Directly from you — when you complete the quote form on this website, phone or email us, visit our yard, sign a rental agreement, or open an account. We may also receive information from credit bureaus or payment providers where you apply for credit, and from your employer or agent where they act on your behalf.

The quote form on this website opens your own email programme so your enquiry is sent to us as an ordinary email. We do not run a public sign-up or user account system on this site.

4. Why we use it

  • To respond to enquiries and prepare quotations.
  • To deliver services: transport, tow-in, rentals, workshop work, skips, scrap and sales.
  • To invoice, take payment, and manage accounts and credit.
  • To keep safety, service and warranty records.
  • To meet legal, tax, licensing and second-hand goods record-keeping obligations.
  • To send service updates or occasional information about our services, where you have agreed or where it relates to a service you already use. You can opt out at any time.

5. Legal basis

We process personal information because it is necessary to conclude or perform a contract with you, to comply with a legal obligation, to pursue our legitimate business interests, or on the basis of your consent where consent is required. Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw it at any time, subject to records we are legally required to keep.

6. Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only where necessary with:

  • Group companies within the Walker Group where needed to fulfil your request.
  • Suppliers, manufacturers and importers for warranty, parts and service claims.
  • Sub-contracted transporters, recovery operators and waste facilities.
  • Accounting, banking, payment, insurance and IT service providers.
  • Regulators, the SAPS or courts where the law requires it.

Where an operator processes information for us, we require them to keep it confidential and secure. Some service providers may store information outside South Africa; in that case we take reasonable steps to ensure comparable protection.

7. Cookies and website analytics

This website uses only the cookies and local storage necessary for the site to function. If we later add analytics or marketing cookies, we will update this policy and, where required, request your consent. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, though some parts of the site may then not work as intended.

8. How long we keep it

We keep personal information only as long as necessary for the purpose it was collected for, and thereafter for the periods required by law — for example, tax and company records are generally kept for five years, and second-hand goods and safety records for the periods set by the applicable legislation. Enquiries that do not lead to business are deleted or archived once they are no longer useful.

9. How we protect it

We apply reasonable technical and organisational safeguards, including access control on our systems, limiting access to staff who need it, and using reputable service providers for email, accounting and hosting. No system can be guaranteed completely secure, so we cannot promise absolute security; if a security compromise affects your personal information we will notify you and the Information Regulator as required by POPIA.

10. Your rights

  • Ask what personal information we hold about you.
  • Ask us to correct or delete information that is inaccurate, irrelevant or excessive.
  • Object to processing in certain circumstances.
  • Withdraw consent for marketing communications.
  • Lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa.

To exercise any of these rights, email admin@walkerindustria.co.za. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request, and we will respond within a reasonable time.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The current version is always the one published on this page, with the last updated date shown above.
